BscCSIT, CSC-452: Internship
Bachelor
This report is about the internship period, covering the period of 180 hours. It includes details about the working environment and assigned tasks during internship period. The goal of internship period is to assist students in focusing their interests, thus aiding in the selection of future coursework and the assessment of ultimate career pursuits. It has provided the opportunity to re-examine my career objectives and explore the variety of opportunities in the field of computer networking. I have chosen Nepal Telecom -WIMAX Directorate for my internship. I have taken network specification so as per my course requirement I have chosen an Internet Service Provider (ISP) for my internship.
Nepal Telecom introduced 4G Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WIMAX) IEEE 802.16e technology for the first time in Nepal with project assistance of Airspan technology.
WIMAX is a technology standard for long-range wireless networking. WIMAX equipment exists in two basic forms - base stations, installed by service providers to deploy the technology in a coverage area, and receivers, installed in clients. WIMAX is developed by an industry consortium, overseen by a group called the WIMAX Forum. The Forum certifies WIMAX equipment to ensure it meets the technology standards. Its technology is based on the IEEE 802.16 set of wide-area communications standards. WIMAX signals can function over a distance of several miles (kilometers) with data rates reaching up to 75 megabits per second . A number of wireless signaling options exist ranging anywhere from the 2 GHz range up to 66 GHz.
