Abstract

Resource Forecast module of Time and Expense is a module of a web based Software Project Management application called ‘Time and Expenses’. This module is primarily responsible for the enterprise human resource planning. Resource forecast module addressees the problem of human resource management, appropriate use of the human resource, tracking their activity and involvement in different tasks and predicting the number and type of human resource for upcoming project. Not only the size and shape of the worker’s team but also the deadline of project can be adjusted with the resource forecasting module.

In a midsized to large organizations, the count of employees range from hundreds to thousands. These large numbers of employees are equipped with variety of skills and abilities. Different employee may be suitable at different phase of different projects. Tracking all these differences and making a proper allocation of each employee is really difficult task when done without some form of intelligent automation. So, resource forecast module is an intelligent assistant of strategic human resource manger or a Line Manager who sees overall projects and resources of a software house. Assigning right manpower to right task at right time is the fundamental objective of this module.

Besides helping to make the right decision, this module is focused in providing the centralized view of the resources, projects and their allocations. This centralized view reveals the complex interrelationship among the projects and the resources. Besides the centralized Gantt View, the resource forecast module provides the individualized Calendar View and the List View to summarize the allocation details of the employee or the project.
