Abstract

Data is a factual reference for analysis. Open data provides power of factual analysis to everyone. The open data represented in numeric form makes factual analysis and understanding a tedious task for everyone. To impart the power and message from factual analysis of data, visualization is mandatory, if not, must for open data. Nepal is developing nation struggling to grow and provide quality life to its citizen.
For any development works, it is of utmost importance to know current state of the Nepal. Visualizing open data of Nepal is best way to gain insight on current state of Nepal. The best possible measure of current status of Nepal is having clear understanding of effect of recent massive earthquake. The April 2015 earthquake in Nepal killed over 9,000 people and injured more than 23,000. The visualization includes total number of Earthquakes (including aftershocks) and maximum magnitude of earthquake in effected district of Nepal displayed across choropleth map of Nepal. On selection of any district, the Human casualties and Infrastructure damage in each of the district is animated in responsive bar chart.
The visualization makes data intuitive to understand and plan strategic solution to resolve any problem. Given the scenario of Nepal, the visualization builds foundation for designing strategic solution to leap into a process of development.
