With the advent of the internet, people around the world have openly accepted it as
a part of their lives. Not only in the developed countries but in countries like Nepal
too, the number of internet users is growing rapidly. Along with this increasing
number of users, and the obvious ease of use and management, many services have
gone online. Internet today provides the biggest market place one can access. There
are no geographical boundaries to it, and importantly no restrictions on ecommerce
as long it is legal. However, there is also a challenge in completing those
commercial activities as safely and securely as possible. And to protect its citizens
from fraud and forgery, poor countries like Nepal have a history of strict regulations
on online transactions.
Nonetheless, with the necessity of businesses and people, there has been some
liberalization in recent years. As a result, we now have a number of online payment
and transactional services in Nepal. Still, with so many Nepalese living abroad and
having relations back in Nepal, there is a lack of a convenient payment service
globally accessible at a click of a mouse. The remittance services are there but one
would not send money just for a small utility payment. The project aims to tackle
this problem using the latest tools and technologies. The project seeks to go beyond
the limitations of current online payments systems in Nepal and create a user
friendly, globally accessible, multi-user, multi-gateway and multi-service payment
platform for Nepalese services.
