PashuFarm: Efficient Dissemination of Information for Animal Husbandry” At “ICTAN" 

Abstract

Livestock farming is one of the important occupations of agricultural country like Nepal. Around 65% of the population is engaged in agriculture. Almost all household engaged in agriculture rear certain species of livestock. This sector is the important sector contributing for employment and poverty reduction. But despite its importance, this field is not so developed. Development of livestock farming has highly increased in the urban areas and is less developed in the rural areas.
Farmers in the urban areas access more facility than rural farmers including information technology. Farmers in the rural areas face the main problem of production and market. Production is high but markets are not beneficial. Communication problem between the market and farmers is the main cause for this.
PashuFarm: Efficient Dissemination of Information for Animal Husbandry is the project to solve such problems. It is a web system that provides all types of information involving animal husbandry. The project is mainly targeted to the farmers in the rural areas. Farmers can use the system for querying too. The project deals with animal related information distribution. Farmers can get any type of information about animals like animal breeds, animal foods, suitable places for production, and updated market prices.
