Environmental pollution is a major aspect to be considered and pollution has to be avoided. Technology plays an important role in improving solid waste management and environment sanitation. Barcode is currently implemented on a global scale and the broad use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), electronic ticket is considered as a contract, in digital format, between the user and the service provider which combines the issue and delivery of ticket into a single operation. The project entitled “Eco-Park: Implementation of Barcode Technology for effective garbage disposal with e-ticketing system” allows to improve solid waste management practices leveraging modern technologies. It implements barcode technology for garbage sticker generation and e-ticketing operation. The technological platform registers users, controls ticket sale and issues management reports allowing accurate monitoring of data.
The systems approach to waste handling focuses on Parks within the Kathmandu Valley, reducing waste where possible, re-using, recycling and recovering for the safety of visitors and the environment. Barcode technology with sticker generation and electronic ticketing can be regarded as a solution enabling a person to pay in a simple, secure and efficient way for a service used. The web-based application provides accurate and timely support for multiple functional organizations, data collection and dissemination of information for each of its facilities, and any future facilities.
