Fiber to the home (FTTH) has come as a solution to many demands from customers. The major requirement is increased bandwidth and applications and triple play services. Today, many internet service providers have adopted that technology mainly because of demand from their customers or due to the future focus of the market.
The internship program emphases on implementation of fiber optics in Nepal. In the current infrastructure of Nepal, the main access network is based in copper wires, which lack in delivery of Quality of Service and multimedia. It is a well-known fact that the optical fiber as a telecommunications medium is faster than the copper wire, because it uses light instead of electricity for data transmission. The transmission network of the FTTH is based in fiber optic technology and in microwave technology.
The internship of the author at ClassicTech Pvt. Ltd mainly focused on support and solution as per the client requirements. The company has been providing proper guidance and working environment for the intern to develop their practical knowledge. The department efforts on network design, implementation, support and solution. The author got the opportunities to be familiar with network environment and also was able to challenge the client’s problems. All the configurations to implement the FTTH network were studied and practically applied.
