Wireless communication is among technology’s biggest contributions to mankind.
Wireless communication involves the transmission of information over a distance without
help of wires, cables or any other forms of electrical conductors. But the major means of
the internet communication in Nepal is still through the use of wires. While wired or cable
has its merits the problem it causes can’t be overlooked as well such as flexibility, physical
safety and cost are some of the main issue with the wired network.
This project deals with the adaptation of the IEEE 802.11e wireless technology in the
scenario of Nepal and the advantages of it like Quality of Service enhancements for
wireless LAN applications through modifications to the Media Access Control layer. The
main idea of the project is to help in spreading the use of internet technology by the means
of wireless system which is more flexible, ease of access and easier for network expansion.
For easy communication between devices like Laptops and PDAs as well as connection to
the internet, IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN is used in a lot of scenarios today. This technology
provides universally available communication and computing environment. IEEE 802.11e
wireless network is beneficial because of its salient features like Multimedia
communication and quality of service which enables stakeholders to communicate via
audio and video; complex data formats. Service providers and users both benefit from this
endeavor to use IEEE 802.11e as a wireless technology.
