Abstract

Agriculture contributes the largest share of the GDP in Nepal. The effective production and marketing of agricultural products in the various regions of Nepal could bring significantchanges to the economic development of the nation.
Access, efficiency and affordability of agricultural information continue to be a major impediment for raising agricultural productivity among smallholders in Nepal. Recentlyinformation and communication technology has provided a possible pathway to amelioratethis scenario. A variety of innovations that integrate ICTs into the dissemination of agriculturalinformation to farmers have been developed at local, national and regional levels. They have currently demonstrated a promising field of new researchand application in e-agriculture whilst bringing new sources of information and new tools forlocal knowledge dissemination. This project reviews and discusses the role of ICT and its practicalcontributions to agriculture and rural development in Nepal.
This project study was carried out with the motive of promoting the rural livelihood of agriculture cooperatives and local farmers through the marketing of agricultural products with the help of ICT.The theme of this project is to provide an efficient way to sell or buy the agricultural products so that the number of middleman are minimized. This project helps to minimize the distance between the farmers and the consumers by bridging the information gap. After detailing the design and structure of the project, it goes on to examine its performance. This project can be effective and can increase the efficiency in the agriculture field. However, because of multiple variables that affect productivity, a long-term assessment of the system's productivity and efficiency levels needs to be undertaken.

This project has benefited both, the farmers and the company, in reducing transactions costs and realising better net returns from their operations as it could reduce information asymmetries.
