Hiding Text In Image File Using Multiple LSB Steganography And Provide Security Using Cryptography - Final Year Project Report(CSC-404) 

Abstract

Security is most important thing which concerned by all the people while sending
their messages through the electronic media. We want our message to be sent
concerned one in most secure way without intervention of any third party. Various
techniques have been introduced to provide the integrity and security for
electronic transmission of our message through the public network.
Though Steganography is an ancient way of sending our sensitive data to the
intended one, it has not been used so often. It is found that Steganographic
technique has been used much before than discovery of computer but still it hasn’t
gained it’s popularity in the world of WWW. It can provide the much security
than the modem methods of Cryptography. Any message sent through process is
very hard for the intruders to hack it. One cannot suspect the presence of the
confidential data in the document as it hides the information written in one format
to the others well known formats. We can sent a text or any kinds message by
hiding it in another image, audio, video files or others well known files format.
This project is about hiding our confidential text message in any image file and
sending them to the receiver through the public network. We have also used the
cryptographic technique to increase the security level in our transmitting data. The
message to be sent is first encrypted by using a well known cryptographic
technique and then it is hided in the image file. This makes our message much
secure from any unwanted intruders.
This report initiates with the introduction part where we has explained about the
steganography and its various techniques. It is followed by the ideas about
challenges of electronic transmissions and how Steganography can reduce those
challenges. We have developed a working system for our project using a simple
Steganographic technique.
The report further presents various social and ethical issues related to the system
and concludes with summary of the system and discussion related to project
achievements, limitations, recommendation and critical appraisal of the system.
