Abstract

Though vehicle tracking using GPS has been around for a while, it is only now
that certain systems are becoming available to the general public. GPS vehicle
tracking is the ultimate fleet management tool. You can: optimize driver routes,
save gas and time, reduce thief and control vehicle functions. We can find some
GPS systems, for instance: "simple position logging system" and "real time
tracking system". A vehicle tracking system uses GPS to automatically track and
record a fleet's field activities. Activity is recorded by modules attached to each
vehicle, and movement is tracked wirelessly nationwide. The data is transmitted to
a central, internet-connected computer where it is stored. Data can then be
analyzed and reports can be downloaded in real-time to your computer using web
browser.
This project is about tracking the location of the bus. This is done by tracking the
location of a bus through a dedicated user connection and map allocation through
a website.
This report initiates with the introduction to various components of the system. It
is followed by the background of the system. Then the system development is
discussed where requirements gathering, requirements specification, system
design and development are elaborated. The latter portion of the document
contains the testing approaches and various test logs which are followed by
implementation plans and system evaluation. The report further presents various
social and ethical issues related to the system and concludes with summary of the
system and discussion related to project achievements, limitations,
recommendation and critical appraisal of the system. References and appendix are
attached at the last portion of the report.
